 | Back Creek Yacht Club took its Memorial Weekend Cruise to Fairlee Creek culminating in a poolside cookout dinner on Sunday, May 27th. The event started Friday with a party at Great Oak Yacht Club on their arrival. On Saturday, following an Opening Day Ceremony at the Great Oaks Yacht Club, most went to nearby Chestertown to the Annual Tea Party using the Rock Hall Trolley. During the day Sunday, many participated in a best-ball golf tournament, and also some informal tennis, before attending a naming ceremony and cocktail reception for “Harmony,” Rear Commodore John Oberright’s newly acquired boat. After that, a catered cookout (with all the trimmings) just made it in before the thunderstorm hit later in the evening. | The Club’s annual Lobster Fest will take place June 16-17. Again hosted by Wally and Molly’s Stone at their house on Crab Creek, off the South River, members can anchor out or use his dock and partake in an incredible lobster, corn on the cob, and salad dinner, followed by an outstanding breakfast of pancakes and eggs the next morning. Starting July 1, the Club’s Annual Cruise will take place through the 7th. It is a really fabulous event, with stops at multiple venues, including a tour of Popular Island and spending July 4th at Cambridge, Maryland. Members take advantage of the Club’s web-site at www.gobcyc.com to learn about and sign up for events.
