April 2007 Prop Talk

In keeping with the Club’s active social schedule during the winter months as well as during boating season, on February 17th members of Back Creek Yacht Club welcomed in the Chinese New Year.  Those attending were appropriately attired in red to ward off evil spirits.  John Oberright was particularly resplendent with his amiable Chinese dragon wrapped around his shoulders.

Barbara and Dusty Rhoads' hosted the celebration at their home on Fishing Creek.  Chinese wines were provided for the New Year toasts and served to add a bit of authenticity to the celebration of the “Year of the Boar."  Members also feasted on Chinese delicacies prepared by a local restaurant and parted in high spirits looking forward to BCYC’s next major event, “Casino Night” on March 24th.

Among other recent activities, Club members attended a “Happy Hour” hosted by Bill and Geraldine Falk at their house on Turkey Point on February 23rd, that also celebrated Bill’s recent book publishing, “Rooted in Place.”  For those in the Annapolis area, Members also met for an informal mid-week event on February 28, a “Caribbean Island Dinner” at Pusser’s Caribbean Grill.

The Club’s newly revised and renamed web-site, www.gobcyc.com, our virtual club house, provides news, details of upcoming events, and pictures chronicling our active social, land events, and boating activities throughout the year.  A new member campaign is underway, so check into the website for a taste of our activities, fill out a membership application, and then contact Bill Kranzer, 410-263-9770, the Club’s Membership Chair with any questions and to make arrangements to attend upcoming events on our active agenda.
