BACK CREEK YACHT CLUB

Club members have had a rich series of events to while away the winter blues pending getting back on the water on April 28th. On April 2, they will have another mid-week gathering in Annapolis at a restaurant to catch up on plans to get boats back in the water.  On April 11th, members will be able to attend a presentation on seamanship and safety by a professional Bay Pilot and a session on a ship bridge simulator that 85% of the world's Pilots train on.  Club members will be able to get a perspective of what a pilot encounters when navigating up the Bay.

On March 7, BCYC members met on a cold wet winter’s evening at former Commodore Rosie and her husband Ron Gollehon’s house on the water’s edge at Bodkin Creek for a Southwest Tex/Mex party featuring their sizzling hot chili and appropriate accompaniments.  Earlier, on February 27, club members celebrated Leap Year and Winter’s half-way point at Yellow Fin overlooking the South River.  In February, BCYC held a Red Wine and Chocolate Dinner hosted by club members and wine lovers JJ Sullivan and Juliana Nedd at the Bay Club, Annapolis Naval Station.  The Club’s Rear Commodore, John Oberright, celebrated his winter break by taking a skiing trip in the West, where he emblazoned the mountain scene with a club burgee, shared on the Club website.  For more information on this active cruising Club with a varied range of social activities and to participate in its activities during the current winter season and into the Spring when Club members start back into cruising events on the water, check out its website at gobcyc.com and call Bill Kranzer, membership chair, at (410) 263-9770.  The first cruise event is already scheduled for April 27, less than two months away!
