It’s time for the July Water Rendezvous! Come join your BCYC hosts, Terry and Steve Wanbaugh on Saturday, July 31 on the Rhode River. Their boat, the trawler "Make Believe," will have plenty of 50’s rock n roll tunes playing to tickle your memories and get everyone in a rockin’ mood! Happy Hour will begin around 5pm - bring an appetizer to share (maybe from our cookbook "Cooking Up the Creek"?) and everyone is on their own for supper and drink. We will try to do a raft up (depending on the number of boats). Bring your nettle pool if you have one! "Make Believe" will be anchored in the back portion of the Rhode River, in 7 to 8 feet of water, just past the end of Camp Letts. Coordinates are approximately: 38°53.503N, 76°31.964W, NOAA chart 12270. Channel 78 will be monitored starting around 2 PM. And, best of all, there is no charge so there is neither PayPal nor a late fee!! |

Your members from Minnow Creek (Sullivans, Higginbothams, and Lovings) are hosting the July 17 on-the-water event on Whitehall Creek. For those able to get-away a day early we'll anchor out on Friday evening July 16th. But fun on the water begins Saturday at 2 PM at which time a partial circle raft will be built. Then at 9:30 AM on Sunday, swim, dinghy, kayak or even drive over to the Sullivans, for breakfast on their deck.
Friday: 6 PM rendezvous. No cost, you are on your own for food and drinks.
Saturday: 2 PM start for circle raft. No cost, you are on your own for food and drinks.
Sunday: 9:30 AM $6 per person Full egg-type breakfast, including coffee, bloody marys and mimosas.

BCYC HELPING SAVE THE BAY At its May 15th meeting, the BCYC Board of Governors decided to contribute to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) by matching CBF contributions from BCYC members. Any BCYC member who contributes to CBF before July 4th will have their contribution matched up to $50 per membership by money from the BCYC treasury. Here’s how to make this happen. 1) Make out a contribution check to Chesapeake Bay Foundation for any amount you wish. 2) Send your check to BCYC Contribution Drive, Mary Bowie, Treasurer, 1501 Crystal Drive #732, Arlington, VA 22202 3) Mary will collect all the checks through July 4, 2010. 4) After July 4, a BCYC check for the total matching amount will be added to the collection of checks and the entire package will be presented to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. 5) All BCYC contributors will be personally acknowledged by CBF and will receive a one-year membership if not yet CBF members. Not only will this effort assist CBF in its efforts to improve our beloved Bay, but BCYC will be taking the lead among Chesapeake Bay yacht clubs in encouraging their members to contribute. We are hoping the effort will spread to other clubs, and that BCYC will be recognized as a leader in this cause.
